A Ten-Year Investment Analysis Of Hotels | By Elaine Sahlins | HVS In the past three to five years, until a few months ago, hotel prices and transactions were accelerating at a remarkable rate. During this period of industry recovery, savvy buyers and sellers were poised to secure assets as revenues and income increased and cap rates declined. This robust investment environment was not unique to hotels; private equity funds, REITs, and other investors actively sought out all types of property including office buildings, shopping center, and residential projects.

 eConnect is a one-stop portal to global information and resources on hospitality sales and
marketing topics. eConnect is a service provided by the HSMAI Foundation through its Corporate
Membership program, to create a repository for information on and research into today's most
important industry issues. Many of eConnect's resources are available exclusively to HSMAI
members. The site's resources are organized into six key subject areas.
HSMAI Career Center
Post Jobs Search Open Positions Career Development
In an effort to assist members in attracting new talent to the hospitality sales and marketing profession,
and in filling open positions, HSMAI has joined the Marketing Career Network (MCN) to enhance the HSMAI
Career Center. The MCN is an alliance of trade and professional associations with a combined registered
membership of over 100,000 marketing, advertising and sales professionals with reach to over 750,000
industry practitioners. The MCN includes a searchable resume database of more than 21,000 resumes.
Members can now post open positions that will automatically be listed on all MCN Partner Career Centers at
no extra charge. In addition HSMAI members now have access to exclusive Career Development resources, such
as resume critique and career coaching services in the HSMAI Career Center.

to support business needs in revenue management, Internet marketing, hotel director of sales & marketing and
resort marketing. Every aspect of the content and support material included in the HSMAI University program has
been specifically designed and developed for those involved in sales and marketing, including an inventory of
